The vast majority of abusers were seriously abused, badly neglected and/or abandoned by their parents. Without therapy, many family violence survivors will grow up to become either abusers themselves, or become victims suffering from such problems as alcoholism, depression, drug abuse, eating disorders, obesity, high-risk sexual behaviors, smoking, suicide, and certain chronic diseases. Many survivors don’t even realize their problems are related to the maltreatment they received as children.

We encourage survivors to get the therapy they need through news stories and social media campaigns. We work with therapists, other organizations, businesses, government and individuals to ensure survivors receive the help they need.
