The non-profit corporation based in Rockwall provides
Help prevent workplace violence.
The 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation’s president, J.J. Smith, hopes dozens of local companies will join to help stop child abuse, domestic violence, as well as dating violence and sexual assaults across Rockwall County. He is the former owner of The Rockwall News, which he ceased publishing in 2016 so he could devote his efforts to dramatically reducing family violence on a full-time basis.
“The Alliance’s mission is to help prevent family violence by leveraging the strength and resources of the corporate community. We believe that business plays an essential role in raising awareness of the issue and that our sustained efforts will help reduce and ultimately eliminate family violence.
“We envision enhanced corporate profitability through reduction of rising expenses related to partner violence, such as health care costs and expenses due to low productivity, high turnover, and absenteeism.”
Since 1995, the Alliance has brought together dozens of progressive companies who exchange information, collaborate on projects, and use their influence to instigate change.
Family violence continues to increase locally.
According to Rockwall Police Department statistics, family violence incidents increased from in 2015 to in 2016.
