ROCKWALL TX – The public is invited to hear leaders from the Caddo Creek/Greenville area chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse International (BACA) discuss their mission and activities at the monthly Rockwall area family violence prevention meeting hosted by Americans Ending Abuse July 7, at 7 pm, at the Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club.
According to the non-profit’s website, BACA “exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children.” Working with local community agencies, they offer four levels of intervention on behalf of abused children include visiting the child, sending letters to alleged abusers, visiting an alleged abuser’s neighborhood and distributing child abuse prevention information.
BACA members also accompany and sit with allegedly abused children in court when they may not have anyone else there to sit with.
According to CPS, there were 95 confirmed child abuse victims in Rockwall County in 2014.
Founder J.J. Smith said Americans Ending Abuse started hosting these Rockwall area monthly meeting in January to increase awareness of the problem, promote assistance agencies and bring together all who are concerned to find solutions. They are also active elsewhere in Texas and soon nationwide. Volunteers are always needed.
